First Aid Coverage Makes All the Difference
Maybe you’re an orthodontist who’s fresh out of school. Or maybe you’re a veteran who’s been in the field for decades. No matter how long you’ve practiced, malpractice claims are a legitimate threat to your livelihood. But this isn’t the place for doom and gloom, because the AAOIC exists to help you manage risks.
We actively listen to our insureds and take all factors into account when updating our malpractice insurance plan. That’s why our policy includes a provision few other plans do: first aid coverage.
Under the AAOIC Malpractice Insurance plan, first aid coverage includes $10,000 for expenses incurred by an insured for first aid at the time of an orthodontic incident that occurs within the orthodontic office(s) of the insured.
First aid means:
- Medical aid at the time of an orthodontic incident and, if incurred within 12 months thereafter and resulting from the orthodontic incident, necessary drugs and medical surgical supplies, and necessary medical, surgical, x-ray, ambulance, and dental services
Mistakes happen, regardless of your experience level, so it’s always smart for you and your patient to have a solution ready for emergencies.
Let’s say a patient comes in with a loose bracket. As you remove the bracket, it falls into the patient’s mouth, and it’s accidentally swallowed.
The bracket could cause a host of issues for this patient, including:
- Difficulty breathing
- Bowel problems
- Vomiting
- Choking
- Painful swallowing
With first aid coverage offered by AAOIC Malpractice Insurance, you can send this patient to the emergency room immediately. Go ahead and call an ambulance to get help as soon as possible. You can pay for the ambulance and ER visit and get reimbursed for up to $10,000.
First aid coverage also reimburses you for funds if your patient needs treatment beyond an ER visit. It’s a win-win situation for everyone.
There’s a lot more to our AAOIC Malpractice Insurance than first aid coverage. Go here to see how this plan can help keep your career and practice protected from every angle.
