AAOIC IS CHANGING ITS NAME

For over 30 years, AAOIC®, has been known as the American Association of Orthodontists Insurance Company, a Risk Retention Group.  We are excited to announce that on December 1, 2025, AAOIC is changing its name to The Orthodontists Insurance Company™, a Risk Retention Group.  Do not be concerned, there is no change to your coverage or policies.  We will continue to provide the quality Professional Liability Insurance and service you have come to expect and we are now able to insure all orthodontists who practice in the United States and have graduated from an orthodontic program accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation or the Commission on Dental Accreditation of Canada*.  You will see our trademarked logo of AAOIC® and our new name, The Orthodontists Insurance Company, a Risk Retention Group, appear on insurance policies, compliance documents and in marketing materials. Our Company still values the AAO and believes that all orthodontists would benefit by being a member.

AAOIC, The Orthodontists Insurance Company, a Risk Retention Group, is stronger than ever, providing a stable, affordable, and competitively priced source of malpractice insurance.  Assets are approaching $70,000,000 and shareholders (insureds) equity is over $30,000,000, which is in addition to reserves set at the highest level recommended by our consulting actuaries.  All claims over $200,000 are reinsured by three reinsurers rated A+ (Superior) by A.M. Best.

Our Company continues to return profits to insureds by paying dividends. In 2025, we declared a dividend of approximately 20% which you will see as a discount (premium credit) when you renew in 2026.

The Orthodontists Insurance Company, a Risk Retention Group, is still the same company that has provided professional liability insurance to a substantial share of the orthodontists in the available market. Our seasoned staff will continue to serve you and our mission of being stable and affordable will continue to benefit our orthodontic community.
